Rules Pages Updated

With the National Soapbox Rules currently under discussion on the UKGSA forum, I've decided to update the Rules discussions in the Event Organisers section. There are some of my thoughts on what is needed in a good set of rules, and also some links to the rules used by various events around the country.

It's interesting to note that, now more teams are travelling to different events and event organisers are starting to talk to each other and share ideas, all the different rules are starting to converge and a standard set is emerging. Whether this is consensus breaking out or just blatant plagiarism of the best bits Wink is hard to tell, but if it makes it easier to build a cartie that can compete in several races then it's got to be a good thing.Cool

If you have any questions or comments on the rules pages, or indeed any other part of the site, then please do leave some feedback in the form at the bottom of each page. We've already had some really usefull discussions about wheels over in the construction pages, and it'd be great to get more substance in the event organisation pages too.

Welcome to the Grampian Carties Web Site

Welcome to the new Grampian Carties web site. This web site has been set up  to provide information, support and encouragement for cartie builders, competitors and event organisers.
Recent years have seen an increase in interest in the humble soapbox cartie in and around Aberdeen, with successful events being held at Catterline, Stonehaven and Monymusk. This web site has been set up in order to give teams and organisers of these events a place to swap ideas and also to encourage new teams and events by providing the information they need to get involved.
The resources section contains hints and tips on building your cartie and it is planned to also add a section on event planning and organization for people who are interested in setting up a cartie event in their area.
If you register with Grampian Carties , you will be able to log in and ask questions or even offer advice and help to others.
The calendar section will contain dates of upcoming events, both local and not so local - if you are an event organiser then send us the details about your event and we'll add it to the list.
There is also a forum for open discussions of anything vaguely soapboxy, and a page of links to other relevant sites.
Although primarily focussed on the North East of Scotland, there is information of interest to soapbox enthusiasts everywhere, and the aim is for the site to grow in time into a repository of advice and information based on the experiences of everyone who contributes.
